Why is it that we are afraid to call wars for what they really are? For instance the invasion of Iraq by U.S. and allied forces. Initially sold to the public and media the idea that Saddam Hussein was amassing Weapons of Mass Destruction for nefarious purposes. Problem was it turned out to be bullshit. Ok fine so the real reason was what, oil? Localized strategic control? Saddam stopped trading oil in U.S. Dollars? Probably all of the above so why not just say that? Is the general public so infantile that the politicians feel they need to break it down into a good vs evil story? Apparently so.
If a leading political figure came out and laid the agenda plainly for all to see would it be so horrible that we would have to stop and reconsider our actions? Would they just be “taken care of”? This is why so many “conspiracy theories” abound. The current power structure of the western world feels itself in a paternalistic position of a lofty position as protectors from “the monsters” out there in the world so the sheep can sleep peacefully and keep the whole debt system from collapsing and thus not letting the powers that be have control. The illusion of Western Democracy…
is it that important that even when the truth is staring us in the face the system would kill to maintain that illusion? The idea and training behind the powers that be… do they see themselves as the new Plato’s Guardians? Problem is they don’t have the real training and upbringing for that role.

When the truth is not forthcoming others step in (ie what the media is supposed to be doing) to find out what is really going on. Amateurs for the most part (myself included) try to pick up where the established media has dropped the ball and gotten into bed with the power structure to maintain the illusion that our society is rock solid. In fact its on very shaky ground and far from secure. Recently I watched a public television show called The Agenda (on TVO) the discussion panel was mostly economist banker types and a get out of debt guru and television personality named Gail Vaz-Oxlade.
Gail is a kind of no nonsense get out of debt and get control of your spending person, an almost exact opposite of the banksters. One of the panelists was pretty candid with her and said that if everyone followed he penny pinching advice the economy would tank. The banksters were asked for comment and sheepishly acknowledged the truth of that. He also went on to say the economy relies on debt and people spending more than they make…… pretty candid. Was there rioting in the streets over this, no. A bit of candid truth and some decent media on public television no less! But not a huge audience and chances are the people watching this kind of programing are already socially aware and or concerned individuals, hardly “the masses”. A step in a good direction.
However there is an upsurge of activism of all kinds in the general public and an albeit slow awakening to the real world. I believe there is hope for the “Sheeple”. It would seem that the ones who are really still sleeping is the power structure at large and the “liberal elites” who are failing to be sensitive to the concerns of the general public and refusing to address those concerns. Even if those concerns are misguided it is about perceptions. And the so called “elites” ignore those perceptions at their own peril, ie the Bilderbergs -EvS
