Previously I did an article dispelling some of the commonly held anti-gun myths out there with FACTS.

Facts don’t matter though when there is an agenda (disarming).

I’ll provide some links throughout to other resources in helping in the fight against hunters, sport-shooters, trappers, collectors and everyone

else who complies with the law, using firearms legally and safely.

This is mostly about events in my home country (Canada) but were also seeing a similar fight

going on in the United States.

Some things to be on the watch for:

If your not already watching the SECU (Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security)

meetings on Bill-C21 you should pay attention. The anti-gun side is getting their asses handed to them, again with facts not feelings. My rights shouldn’t end

where your (unfounded) fear begins.

On the upside the amendments to C-21 (G-4 and G-46) that tried to ban everything including Black Rifle Coffee have been withdrawn. And C-21 is turning into a

dumpster fire.

Various government officials including the Canadian PM continued to lie saying they aren’t going after hunting rifles yet their own documents in clear language say they are. I guess they don’t think firearms owners know how to read.

CCFR (Canadian Coalition for Firearm Rights) is the one of the groups leading the fight against this property seizure/gun ban. There are quite a few other groups involved as well and I’ll list a few later. The CCFR team is also currently involved in a court action which has regular updates that can also be found on Twitter.

CCFR vs Canada Federal Court Challenge to the 2020 OIC gun ban (and additional bans since).

They also have a livestream.

Writing your MP and sometimes your MPP does help, even if they are in the same party that’s pushing for banning guns. Best to be polite and professional, use facts. Here’s how to write that letter, and here’s how to find out who to write to.

The Canadian Governments 2020 Order in Council (aka gun ban) wasn’t even debated in Parliament, probably because they knew it would never pass the sniff test in Parliament.

And despite the rhetoric that many ill informed anti-gun people use in Canada there is ZERO connection either politically or financially to any pro-gun groups in Canada and the NRA in the United States. Let’s put that one to bed right the fuck now. First of all the NRA only deals with U.S. concerns, they also don’t have the money or will to try to exert influence on Canada and it’s gun market which is smaller and more of a pain in the ass as California. But the anti-gun crowd doesn’t let facts get in the way of using ignorance and fear.

Despite what some fudds and anti-gun nuts say you can (and should) use so called “black rifles” for hunting. So don’t buy into that bullshit that such and such a gun can’t be used for hunting. They all can. It’s about shot placement, calibre, intended animal to be harvested as well as situation and terrain.

Links and groups in the fight

Ian Runkle (aka Runkle of the Bailey): a firearms rights lawyer. He does a lot to inform people when it comes to firearms law and has a Youtube channel.

CCFR: one of the more active groups. The 2 more active members are Tracey Wilson and Rod Giltaca. Very intelligent team with tons of knowledge and drive.

Alberta Chief Firearms Officer Teri Bryant (and the Alberta Government): Teri has been a regular feature at SECU meetings and is a firearms owner herself. The current Alberta government lead the pushback from various provinces and territories against the federal government’s gun ban.

CSSA: Canadian Shooting Sports Association. Good group and does a lot of work.

CSAAA: Canadian Sporting Arms and Ammunition Association. Currently in a lot of hot water with gun owners for their support for a gun buy back for Canadian retailers.

The gist from what I can tell is they are trying to help out retailers get money for inventory they can’t sell due to the 2020 OIC. A lot of the pissed off people see this as a betrayal and caving into the whole gun ban. I don’t own a retail store with a bunch of rifles and handguns I can’t sell so I can see the point of it. Hard call.

NFA: National Firearms Association. Been around since end of the 70s. Staple of gun shows, almost always have a booth at most of em. And despite similarity to NRA name has zero to do with em.

OFAH: Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters. Great group, disclaimer- I’m a dues paying member. Hunting, fishing, conservation.

MWF: Manitoba Wildlife Federation similar to OFAH but Manitoba.

BCWF: British Columbia Wildlife Federation, see above.

FédéCP: Quebec

Canadian University Shooting Federation: The Canadian University Shooting Federation was started to foster shooting sports among students. Countering the anti-gun ignorance at colleges and universities.

This is not an exclusive list and I know there’s a ton more I haven’t added. Also HUGE shout-out to all the gun and hunting clubs, associations, instructors, etal in Canada for promoting firearms safety and knowledge.

***UPDATED***

2 new pieces of information:

The court case of CCFR vs Canada has concluded and now it’ll be up to the judge to make a ruling. Which could take up to 6 months. It is not hyperbolic to say this is the largest federal court challenge on behalf of gun owners in Canadian history.

Next is Ian Runkle’s explanation of the government’s new amendments with C-21.
