Welcome again to “the last week or so in review” where we bring you a summary of trending articles from our various social media and add additional commentary that might not be found on those media or the blog. Thanks gentle reader for tuning in. Sincerely, Evil von Scarry

1/ North Korea threatens war!

I know its hard to know when and when not to take these guys seriously. They threaten war every other week it seems. However this time though North Korea has  nullified the 1953 Armistice as well as cut the hotline between the North and South Korean governments. Now they have cut the line twice before and threatened to nullify the Armistice but this time the actually went ahead with the nullification of the cease fire. This in combination with recent nuclear tests and boasting about how North Korea “has the right” to preemptively nuke the United States should raise some concern outside of the normal saber rattling. Various sanctions have been in place to reign in military buildup of North Korea but to no effect. Now were not normally advocates of violence and war but this is one of those rare cases that it might be better to take out this nut job before he can do some real damage!

2/ UN demands prosecution of Bush-era CIA crimes- RT News

“A United Nations investigator has demanded that the US publish classified documents regarding the CIA’s human rights violations under former President George W. Bush, with hopes that the documents will lead to the prosecution of public officials.
Documents about the CIA’s program of rendition and secret detention of suspected terrorists have remained classified, even though President Obama’s administration has publicly condemned the use of these “enhanced interrogation techniques”. The US has not prosecuted any of its agents for human rights violations.
UN investigator Ben Emmerson, the UN special rapporteur on the promotion and protection of human rights while countering terrorism, said that the classified documents protect the names of individuals who are responsible for serious human rights violations.”
If people haven’t been able to get Henry Kissinger’s ass nailed to the wall good luck getting George B or any of his administration prosecuted. However on a positive note Henry is on the run from a few countries where he was under threat of being arrested and prosecuted as a war criminal.

3/ Drone strikes against U.S. citizens in America?
Thanks to Jimmy for bringing us this one.
It certainly raises the specter of executive action run amok. But extra judicial killings have been allowed outside of the U.S. and received little to no public backlash so it was only a logical step that it happen inside the Continental U.S.
Various commentators on all the main stream media have been saying things like “it’s not illegal for police to shoot and kill” perpetrators. Yeah fuck here we go the legality and morality will be argued away until drone strikes Stateside become a common everyday thing along with the “collateral” damage that goes along with it.

4/ Taste test of old Tomato and Apple Juice, trying new survival foods
Tried out some old stuff in the storage to see if it holds up as well as get into something called Tempero Mineiro (awesome stuff really).

5/ Is Civil War coming to the United States? This video should be a wake up call.

We’ve discussed this potential before in the Balkanization Restoring the Republic(s) of America article.

6/ Not just the stuff of legend: Famed Viking ‘sunstone’ did exist, believe scientists

“For centuries, it has been a crystal of legend locked in the verses of Norse myth with little or no evidence that it was ever real. Now it seems scientists at last have grounds for believing that the Viking “sunstone” used to navigate the seas did indeed exist.

Researchers who have spent three years poring over a cloudy crystal discovered in the wreck of an  Elizabethan ship sunk off the Channel Islands believe they have proved that it could be the substance described by the Norsemen as helping to locate the sun when obscured by cloud.
The so-called sunstone has long been the subject of scientific intrigue after it was described in one Icelandic saga as a magical gem which, when held up to sky, would reveal the position of the sun even before dawn or after sunset.” The Independent
