(is this man an evil reptilian kitten eater?)
Earlier in the week we had one of our readers ,AFM, send us a request on the HEK-293 food additive.
k, so I’m just hearing about this (yeah, I’m slow)…does anybody know anything about this? Apparently they’re using HEK- 293 as flavour enhancers? I can’t find any info related that hasn’t been posted by some “Pro-Life” group (and I get the feeling their information is somewhat biased). Does someone have any info and/or links pertaining to this?”

I’ll have to admit, never heard of it. So intrigued started to do some digging and provide some facts without the baggage that seems to go along with it.

The HEK-293 was created by a company called  Senomyx , founded by Lubert Stryer (as seen at left). We checked out Lubert and outside of some extremely boring academic books on biochemistry and the like (unless your into that kind of thing then conversely it would be very exciting material indeed!). I could find no evidence of child sacrifice or kitten eating common to more reptilian evil scientists. Also he has no connection to the MK ULTRA group of scientists. The guy seems legit and just likes to make money. The scientist in particular who “discovered” 293 is Frank Graham (for the sticklers out there and also not an MK ULTRA scientist) Now back to what HEK-293 is.

HEK stands for Human Embryonic Kidney cell 293. “Human Embryonic Kidney 293 cells, also often referred to as HEK 293, 293 cells, or less precisely as HEK cells are a specific cell line originally derived from human embryonic kidney cells grown in tissue culture. HEK 293 cells are very easy to grow and transfect very readily and have been widely-used in cell biology research for many years. They are also used by the biotechnology industry to produce therapeutic proteins and viruses for gene therapy.” from Wikipedia found here.

So let’s revisit that little blurb….. DERIVED FROM….EASY TO GROW….. so in reality there is no harvester machine at the back of an abortion clinic somewhere these cells were cloned. As for the 293 there is no formulae that turns it into 666 or anything. lets see 2+9+3= 5 well there ya go. The 293 happened to be the 293’rd experiment, pretty reasonable.

Now for the dirt, there are folks who rightly or wrongly are dead against the use of HEK-293 or anything that looks like it in foods, medicine or anything. Now the idea or human tissue in my food kind of sickens me. We are talking about molecular level particles here. Using that same logic, we shouldn’t eat anything as it may have similar particles, molecules, etc as humans.

From some of the research out there though concerns about HEK-293 and vaccines should be looked into further. Other have alleged that soft drink companies have used HEK293 to use as an artificial flavor enhancer to feed us all DEAD BABIES!!!! muhahahahaha!!!
Sorry folks, bullshit on that one. Again yes the original cell was extracted from a dead fetus back in 1971 however the cell has been cloned, split, recombinant and changed about 400,000 times since.

Below is a typical video found on the net using selective articles and information to make their point ( like this article your reading, lmao). However it isn’t too bad or preachy.

Learning about healthy food choices and about what we eat is very important and there is allot of crap companies use as additives, flavor enhancers, etc.  The reasons are many but mostly it’s about money. Keeping the products fresher and more appealing, lasting longer for shipment, etc. However in that quest as we’ve found out along the way over about the last 200 years of mass food production that some things work and other’s not so much. Educate yourself and others, grow as much of your own food as you can within your means and support local agriculture and farmers markets!
