So your walking through the flea market or yard sale, local thrift store and there it is the most horrible art work ( and yet strangely facinating) piece you have ever seen….. there’s lots of crappy/kitschy art work out there and here is just some of the most popular or common stuff out there- EvS

Dogs playing poker, originally done to sell cigars .The paintings were commissioned by a publishing company in 1903 called Brown and Bigelow by a painter named C.M. Coolige ( who specialized in Dogs playing poker paintings and making card board cut outs for tourists to stick their heads in for pictures).

Velvet Elvis and other velvet paintings made famous by Edgar Leeteg who painted thousands of velvet paintings

Or the paint by numbers kits- from Wikipedia-
“The kits were invented, developed and marketed in 1950 by Max S. Klein, an engineer and owner of the Palmer Paint Company of Detroit, Michigan and Dan Robbins, a commercial artist.”

Big Eyed art such as that made popular by Margaret Keane (in the 60s and 70s) is also common flea market fodder.

Also all of those god damned sad clown pictures, sickening bastards that they are. Terri Coop at Why I fear clowns has some of the evidence( not to mention serial killer John Wayne Gacy was a clown AND painted clowns!)

Also those stupid Felix the Cat clocks with eyes that go back and forth like a metronome. Turns out they are actually a brand called Kit-Cat Clocks (patented)

Maybe not art in the strictest sense but garden gnomes, pink flamingos and other “lawn art” falls in the trashy category

Also the glowy paintings of living artist Thomas Kinkade is the future of kitchy art.

Some other blogs I found out there are good kitsch in themselves while “researching” this article
