Welcome to another addition of “The last week or so in review.” We bring the last weeks review with commentary from our featured articles and submissions from readers and contributors as well as additional commentary.

1/ Canadian Government kills “Bill C-30” online surveillance bill.
As we all know it wasn’t done out the goodness of their own hearts. There was a huge political backlash and grassroots campaign to stamp out this week of fascism and it worked! Originally featured as one of those “save the children” from online predators, activists actually read the bill (unlike the politicians who are supposed to) and found it was another Trojan Horse for fascism.
2/ Armed citizens force officials to back down.
Oak Harbor, Wash, USA.
“A group of 160 citizens, many if not most of whom were armed, confronted government officials Tuesday who had attempted to have a wounded Army veteran kicked out of a meeting due to the fact that he carried a gun. The veteran has a state license for concealed carry, which means that he was carrying the gun to the meeting within the boundaries of the law.” “Maggies Notebook” also has quite a bit of info on this story as well. Be sure to check it out.
3/ Christopher Dorner wallet found intact with I.D.
C.Dornerhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christopher_Dorner was finally surrounded in California by LA County Sheriffs Department and burned alive. Misreporting from law enforcement about the whole affair continues to cloud the whole story. Interestingly his wallet was found intact after the firestorm. Gee sounds like the 9-11 passports being found of the “terrorists” after the burning buildings and airplanes…… needless to say the whole event including Dorner’s “manifesto” has created quite a flap.
In this video the presenter says that the whole thing is a hoax
Here is the mainstream media report (courtesy ABC news)
4/ New police powers to curb freedom of the press (U.K.)
“Police are set to be given new powers to seize confidential material from journalists.
In a worrying blow to Press freedom, the changes may also mean journalists will be forced to identify whistleblowers to the police.
Critics said the Home Office proposals, which follow recommendations made by Lord Justice Leveson, would undermine investigative journalism and free speech.
It is feared that the changes will remove legal protections for anyone who releases material to reporters unless journalists can show their source did not breach confidentiality or act illegally.”
Seems like the U.K. is trying to make sure they close any loopholes in case of their own version of Bradley Manning.
5/ Marines use disabled rifles at Obama’s Presidential Inauguration
Seems the CIC doesn’t trust his own men.…..
” “Didn’t know the Marines had to take the bolts out of their rifles for the Inaugural,” an email forwarded to Gun Rights Examiner from a United States Marine Corps source observed. “Wonder if someone can explain why [they] would be marching in the inaugural parade with no bolts in their rifles!”
6/ RTR (Restore the Republic) launches 50 Days of Freedom and their own News Network!!!
RTR is a fanstastic sight to meet with great people who value freedom.
