In recent events U.S. Secretary of State, John Kerry, “apologized” for his statements comparing the Israeli/Palestinian situation to the former “Apartheid” system of South Africa. Interestingly Arch Bishop Desmond Tutu who did live through the Apartheid system agrees.
It would make some wonder why he would back peddle on this statement and what would get him to issue an apology. Some of my contemporaries would put the blame squarely on “Jewish Zionists“. Always one to buck the system (in an anarchist/Devil’s Advocate sense) it would be too easy to blame the “chosen people“. So I decided to do a bit of digging just to see who is behind the U.S. Israel lobby. To be sure there are those identify themselves as Jews that are a part of that lobby but it turns out the biggest supporters of the Israeli lobby are hard core Christians in the U.S. Bible Belt (and the arms industry!– they can actually sell weapons as “field tested”).
So any way you want to cut it the whole “Peace Process” in the middle east has become it’s own industry with vested interests and no real desire for anything resembling “peace” between Israelis and Palestinians.
Now just to be difficult (again) lets take a look at regional weapons sales going to Palestine and other not so friendly countries to Israel. Iran is large weapons exporter and does send weapons to Lebanon, Palestine and anyone else who want’s to make life miserable for Israel. Syria is also a big supporter of Hezbollah, another pain in the ass for Israel. But to label them as an “Axis of Evil” in comparison to similar U.S. actions is simplistic and jingoistic. Granted there’s quite a few arms being sent to the area by Israel’s enemies, the vast majority of them being small arms (ie man fired rockets, small arms,etc). Also the total amount being sent pales in comparison with U.S. expenditure to Israel. Oddly enough the U.S. has no problem sending weapons to Israel but gets pissy when the Israeli’s send some along to China. WTF? Bite the hand that feeds I guess.
So we know all about the arms industry being big supporters, thats a no brainer.What about Christian support of Israel? Evangelical Christians see Israel as the Promised Land of the Bible and have had various Crusades to “rescue” Israel. So this religious support has been going on for centuries to say the least. VICE does a really great show on this.
So now that whole kettle of fish with religeon being the reason to support Israel.

And now we come to something called the “Third Temple“. If this third temple is built in Israel then it is believed by some of these fanatical Christians (and some Jews) that the “End Times” will happen and Jesus will come back and deliver (some) of us from evil and the world will become the magical Narnia that they want it to be. Oh yeah and everyone else they don’t like will burn in hellfire

Yeah seems so, also there needs to be a Red Heifer to consecrate the site, etc. Its life imitating art. But powerful people are tilting at that particular wind mill full bore. Problem is there’s a Muslim temple there at the moment called the Al Aqsa Mosque.
What the fuck makes them think they can hurry along God’s plans? Hate to break it to those who think tomorrow is the End Times. Humanity has been predicting it’s next week since time began.
