Restoring the Republic or will we see a “Balkanization” of the late great United States of America? If it does go lets hope it’s a peaceful transition like the former Czechoslovakia and its famous “velvet divorce.

With the financial quagmire around the world and lash-back against the IMF as well as would be New World Order there are a few States of the Union that are making steps to taking back the sovereignty and issuing their own currency.

What would a divided America look like? Is it possible? And what would be the outcome? Can this really be happening?

Ironically state sovereignty and creating their own republics might actually lead to a stronger union and a return to what the Constitution had originally laid out. The idea behind the United States was decentralized and very limited federal powers with a coalition of sovereign states coming together for matters of defense and foreign policy ( not trade but more so negotiations, treaties, etc.

In terms of defense think of a NATO like structure where the individual states would contribute men and materials to mutual defense but laws and day to day living would be the domain of the individual states. Regular militia would be local defense and aid to the civil power.

With a decentralized control structure politicians would be increasingly accountable to the voters and they would not be hiding up in D.C. and catering to federalist and globalist agendas. No more central banks and debt based currency. However this might not make some recipients of American money happy as the free handouts would dry up very quickly as well the security industrial complex would not be getting their free hand outs either.

So is this possible? Movements are already going toward sovereignty at the time of this article. Turns out that many areas of the U.S. were brought into the Union either by hook or by crook and mostly by crooks and dubious legality.

Another note in the secessionist debate there will undoubtedly be losers and winners for independent states or new formed republics. As it is some States in the Union do not have much to offer for themselves let alone for trade to newer republics. Eventually these states would be partitioned off to newer political entities probably on a county level as residents vote to join or not to newer republics. There are even certain states that would benefit more from being on their own than being part of the Union. Texas, California, Vermont, Alaska ( to name just a few ) could easily grow and thrive on their own.

Couldnt happen here you might say? Well it has happened all throughout history and across the world to other peoples who thought they had manifest destiny and an undying place in the world, The Austro-Hungarian empire, British Empire, Czechoslovakia, Soviet Union, Rome, etc, etc. There is nothing new under the sun here and The United States has no precedent for immunity of breaking up into smaller states.
(updated links etc for Nov 2012- EvS)
Hawaii– thanks to Mike Rivero and his podcast for tuning us in on this one
the following link gives a really good backgrounder and case for an independent Hawaii.

Arizona– there has already been legislation put forward that if martial law is declared by the President then Arizona will succeed. I dont have updated information on this, but do have link from when I first heard of it.

Alaska– resource rich, very independent and could easily take care of themselves. There has been previous attempts but legal issues in making this happen. However the Alaskan Independence Party has been gaining ground lately.

Texas– this former republic could easily go it alone. Most shipping corridors go through here as well as huge natural gas and oil reserves make this a no brainer. Not to mention Texas has more to gain than lose from independence.

Vermont– link to the Second Vermont Republic

The following below in an excerpt from the Constitution Society web site. The info below is from one of the pages of that site that has a summary of independence and secessionist movements in the U.S. and abroad.

# United States of America

Alaskan Independence Party — Seeks referendum with choice of statehood, independence, commonwealth, or self-governing territory.
Free the Bear – California Secession and Independence
The Republic of Cascadia — Advocates independence for the Pacific Northwest from both America and Canada, with a libertarian and pro-business perspective.
State of Jefferson — The rich history surrounding the events leading to the State of Jefferson secession movement of 1941. The State of Jefferson lives on in the hearts and minds of many residents of northern California and southern Oregon today.Separatist movement of Hawaiian aboriginal people.
New England Confederation Movement — Seek independence for New England states. Also see New Hampshire Chapter.Second Vermont Republic — Seek independence for Vermont.
South Carolina League of the South — Seek independence through secession, perhaps for all of the Southern states of the 1861-65 Confederate States of America.
Republic of Texas — This is one of several pages for the somewhat fractured Texas Independence Movement which has recently received a great deal of attention. We do not support the movement. Constitutional compliance throughout the United States is attainable. Independence is not necessary, and distracts from the cause of constitutional compliance. But they do raise a number of interesting issues. Provisional Government of the Republic of Texas — Another Republic of Texas site.
United People’s Party (Partido Nacional La Raza Unida) — Many of them seek to separate the part of the U.S. taken from Mexico from the U.S. and make it an independent Hispanic nation called Aztlan.

In checking information out for this article the seems to be allot of secessionist movements out there-

Increasingly we are seeing various States make laws ( as is their legal right!!) against the wishes of the federalists in D.C. and in contravention of globalist agenda. Some would argue a divided America will collapse but many of the Republics were around and doing well before Union and I would guess do just fine without it. The world and history has tons of examples of those who went on their own when everyone else predicted doom for making such a move and did just fine thanks.

This is certainly not a comprehensive list of secessionist movements and if I missed anyone it wasn’t deliberate. The idea of this article is to bring the idea of sovereignty and states asserting their rights in the face of increasing federalism to light. -EvS

  1. As you probably know, I’ve long thought that the U.S.A. will break up into at least 7 zones. I hope it is done without bloodshed but expect some, esp if the S.West tries to join Mexico which they’d be retarded to, but then, that’s politics.
