Thanks to openmedia.ca for the pics on illustrating this issue. internet censorship effects all of us across the world and is an attempt by the “powers that be” to curtail decent. In their effort to maintain control/power they use excuses such as the police need new powers to combat cyber crime or protect the children. They have enough tools already and can do their jobs effectively with good old detective work instead of trying to create a big brother style society.

This control is nothing new and is as old as the hills throughout all societies and times. A big difference however is at no other time in our history ( at least that we are aware of) has such power been in the hands of the common people with information (which is power just ask any intelligence agency) in the form of internet access! People have been challenging the established power bases through the internet and linking up with each other. The last time a similar shift in common perception was probably in the 1960’s/early 1970’s, the established powers were on the ropes and ready for the knockout blow……….. so what happened? Granted alot of things did change socially and in rights for people but the power structure remained. The peasants got a few crumbs and allot of distractions with drugs and television also heap on a goodly amount of apathy and ignorance.

Some of those folks who pushed for social change in the so called “boomer” generation are still with us as internet activists and we need less apathy from the newer generations to continue the fight, we have better tools 40 years later and the means to use them. We are getting to a tipping point as viewed in just how hard the New World Order types are fighting back. Those same tools we would use for social activism however are available to the NWO as weapons of oppression and they are trying to tie our hands those tools.

Time to fight back folks, get active and don’t take no for an answer! There are vast resources out there of information and dissent, demand action from your government starting on the local level. So called elected representatives work for us, remind them of that! Check ego’s at the door and start helping each other out. Ive noticed alot of infighting in the activist groups in the last few years, which is another tool the powers that be use- divide and conquer. Even worse than any threat from the Illuminati, NWO or whomever of that ilk is ourselves. Opinions are as varied as all of us and individual which is a great thing but we have to put aside differences and stop with this crap of so and so is an “agent” or this group or that group is Illuminati because they don’t agree with me on such and such an issue…. its gotta stop or its going to stop all of us!

if attached below an article from openmedia.ca that I feel will be of interest to our readership. thanks again for caring enough to be informed. Remember anything done “behind closed doors” is because they don’t want you to know what’s being discussed. If there wasn’t anything to hide it would be done in public. – eVs

Letter to Supporters: A massive public outcry

Working with their allies in government, powerful lobbyists are pushing a set of initiatives designed to create bigger bills, widespread surveillance, and restricted online choice.

This is big. Powerful lobbyists, working with their allies in government, have put forward what amounts to an unavoidable choke point for your Internet use: two bills aimed at Internet users, and a government decision about the future of Internet access.
If we don’t stop this set-up, you’ll have to deal with bigger bills, widespread warrantless surveillance, and restricted choice.
By signing an OpenMedia.ca petition, you helped push back against new Internet restrictions and Big Telecom price-gouging. But these new challenges require more resources than ever to fight. Will you donate today so we can defend your rights? Your donation will empower the fight for an open and affordable Internet.
These three imminent threats will create an Internet choke point for Canadians, and they’re unfolding right now:

  1. Online Spying: The government has tabled their invasive spying plan (Bill C-30) to mandate that every Internet provider must hand “authorities” access to the private information of any Canadian, at any time, without a warrant1. Despite appearances the contrary, they are still pushing this through parliament.
  2. The Internet Lockdown: Through Bill C-11, Big Media lobbyists are seeking the power2 to compel telecom providers (who will now have surveillance capabilities) to cut Internet access for no good reason, remove or hide vast swaths of the Internet, and lock users out of their own services.
  3. The Cell Phone Squeeze: Big Telecom giants are lobbying the government to turn over control of mobile communications—which experts say are the future of Internet access—to just three giant companies3. This will lead to rising prices, even worse customer service, and more easily controlled surveillance.

Please contribute a few dollars now to help us stop this triple-threat of price-gouging, control, and warrantless surveillance.
With your help, we can put together an airtight, multifaceted plan that will turn government heads. Here’s what we’ll do with your support:

  • Launch a damning viral video that will turn up the heat on government.
  • Run pro-Internet ads targeting conservative politicians in swing ridings.
  • Unleash local, on-the-ground pressure, especially in major ridings.

This approach works. Two MPs have broken ranks4 already; now, we just need to nudge a few more over the fence. But we can’t do it without you.

With hope,
Steve and Lindsey, on behalf of your OpenMedia.ca Team
P.S. We created a media sensation this week and your petition signature helped start it all! Your team here at OpenMedia.ca has been run off our feet with media requests! Please chip in so we can keep up the pressure. We’ll report back on our progress to everyone that contributes.

  1. I am from Finland. I have read many things from internet sites only, of which TV and newspapers don’t tell. Actually censorship in the mainstream media makes my country a plutocracy (not democracy), ruled by the political and economic elite.

Most Finns do not have any idea what’s going on in their own country.
