So we’ve all heard the rumors about nukes floating around out there in the world without proper supervision. Some may even still recall something vague about a bunch of nukes disappearing for about 36 hours until they were found again( in 2007…oops). The infamous backpack nukes from the 60’s? In this article we’ll explore just what the threat level is and maybe explain if some of these other things are true or not. Sure the cold war is over and we would like to forget the whole thing ,but guess what…….
2007 Bent Spear episode, Minot AB N.Dakota U.S.A.
This story played off as a “whoops we fucked up but its all good now”. Essentially some nukes got put on a plane by “accident”, flown to another base but officially were missing as there was no records of them being taken out of their “secure”lock up. It was only ground crew doing their job (ie inspecting the cargo, etc (when the plane arrived in Barksdale AFB, Louisiana). There’s some really fucking serious questions I have with this one
– How did these nukes get removed from a secure bunker without an “o.k.” from somewhere?
-In the few hours it takes to mount these nukes ( 6 in all) under the wings how come no one noticed the warheads? ie not drill or non nuclear rounds? they do have markings for pete’s sakes. Another fact is that flying nukes over the continental U.S. has been banned for decades as well as doing drills with live nukes. Washington Post (for anyone who thinks they still have credibility) put out an article on this as well.
Now somebody should have hung for this one, but nobody did. GR.ca has a pretty good article that goes more in-depth into this story.
The really careless 50’s
Seems to be that in the 1950’s nukes were seen as nothing more unusual than table salt or having a spare can of gas in the trunk of one’s car. This era had multiple loose nuke issues.
– 1950 British Columbia B-36 crash- lost a nuke flying over B.C.,Canada in the wilderness. Plane dropped bomb(and it got lost) and then crashed.
– 1956 B29 Stratojet disappears over the Atlantic en route to Monaco, never found or recovered.
-1958 Mars Bluff, South Carolina bomb accidently dropped into a swamp. Apparently though the nuclear part of the material (trigger, etc) was stored separately and not lost
–1958 Tybee Island mid-air collision-
2 bombers collided one had nukes. The cargo never recovered after sinking.
plus many more incidents.
Backpack or suitcase nukes
The Davey Crockett may be the smallest nuke in the U.S. arenal but Dr. Alexey Yablokov, of the Russian Academy of Sciences, confirmed the existance of the so called “back pack” nukes in an interview with PBS. He dispels the claims of Chechen terrorists ( and a few others) saying they have some but he is pretty candid that indeed some are unaccounted(out of the 132 devices he could only locate 48!!!) for and with current conditions being what they are in Russia that the possibility that they are in private hands is a high one. Dr. A. Yablokov also testified in front of the House of Representatives on Oct.1, 1997 on Nuclear Terrorism and Counter Measures. Link to official report.
Other have also confirmed the existence of the “back pack” and similar scale nukes such as GRU defector Stanislav Lunev.
Interesting that some U.S. agencies want to keep their heads in the sand on the issue, but it would appear DHS is taking in seriously.
It is also a fact that there are 155mm artillery shells that were nuclear capable. Apparently for the U.S. the last ones were dismantled during George H.W. Bush’s term. However Pakistan apparently is going full forward with the nukes on that size scale (Artillery scale- ie battlefield not strategic)
I think that the largest fear of these types of weapons, and the apparent carelessness of their security, is that a government (or other power structure) that becomes desperate enough to maintain or take power may use a “Jericho event”(ie false flag) in order to take charge.
So long story short, these kinds of low yield nukes are out there and some are “missing”. There’s even a few of the big ones that are missing as well. Just another one of our real life horror stories. -EvS
