Time for another installment of The Last Few Weeks or so In Review. A highlight of our
various social media from various contributors, reader submissions and articles from around
the net.

1/ The Crimea
Does Russia really want it back? Is it a power play show between East and West? Perhaps
Russia is trying to maintain it’s relevancy or Putin is putting on a risky show to the old hard-
liners to prove he’s still the toughest? What’s in it for the West? What’s in it for Ukraine?

We’ve been seeing an almost knee jerk reaction of activist support for Russia’s stance on Crimea from West bashing types. Sure there’s an agenda from the West but let’s not forget Russia play’s the Great Game as well. As much as I love RT (Russia Today) the propaganda seems to be in full swing, the old saw “doth protest too much” seems fitting.

Not to say that “Western Media” is’nt propaganda however even MSM isn’t on the same parallel. On of the RT anchors had an attack of conscience on air and quit over Russia’s invasion of Crimea (Ukraine).

Let’s call it what it is. By all international standards it is an invasion. Hitler invaded Austria and Czechoslovakia to protect ethnic Germans too. Not that I’m comparing Hitler to Putin that’s a bit much but it is an illustrative situation. Seems to be a lot of similarities of that time to now.

Russia see’s right wing elements in the form of Ukrainian Ultra-nationalists as a huge threat in Crimea and eastern Ukraine. But is this a convenient excuse for a territorial grab? Keeping control of the gas and coal? The rub is Russia knows the “West” is always be willing to negotiate to stay out of war.

As much as it might piss people off the Crimea is no longer part of Ukraine and short of armed force will not be for the foreseeable future , if ever.  Apparently this whole scenario was already figured out back in 1997 from one of the big New World Order insiders, Zbigniew Brzezinski’s in his 1997 book, The Grand Chessboard

2/ Malaysia Flight MH370
Wow what can we say about this one that hasn’t been said already? The Web and media has been all over this one. In case you’ve been off the grid the last while I will quickly summarize:
Passenger plane on-route from Malaysia to China disappears….completely. No satellite no GPS, nadda, zip zilch. Over 200 people and crew and huge frickin plane disappear no traces.  Or is there? Turns out there is some information that is slowly coming out.
Now many folks come here looking for an alternative angle but on this event I gotta admit I’ve got jack shit. Checked through some of the more well know passengers, etc but didn’t find anything that was really untoward. However here’s a video with some “alternative theories”.

One article even questioned if it was headed for an Asian 9-11
The newest bit is that maybe it flew to Pakistan and was hijacked!

3/ The Internet and Technology
-Scientists work on backing up human brain with computers! Yup science fiction now becoming fact. Just the next step before we start living in the Ghost in the Shell world.  Not surprisingly our “friends” at DARPA are all over this one. Will this be the big transcendence of cyber punk? If you haven’t seen the Ghost in the Shell series it was years ahead of it’s time and actually addresses some very serious issues in an increasing technological world .

-Protecting our Privacy– now this focuses on Canada but is not much different than anywhere else
in the world.

-U.S. Navy wants ships powered on Sea Water
excerpt-

“The process begins with a three-chambered cell that receives a stream of seawater in the central compartment. Right now, one of these units sits on the shore of Key West, Fla., at the lab’s Center for Corrosion Science & Engineering facility.
The cell pulls a relatively pure and concentrated source of carbon dioxide from the seawater. This source is usually better than carbon dioxide recovered from flue or stack gases produced by the burning of fossil fuels, Willauer says. Such gases require expensive, energy-intensive hardware to further purify them so they’re safe to use and won’t harm living organisms.”
-Are We Machine?
“Advertising puts a lot of money in the way of machines that predict us better. But also of social network services that makes our behaviour more predictable. Do we run the risk of losing the Turing test by becoming less human?”- full article here

4/ Housekeeping and updates
some updates from previous reviews and articles
Mysterious Banker Deaths –
besides the “suicides” of various high end bankers a BitCoin banker has also mysteriously died! Autumn Radtke who was a BitCoin exchange CEO has also been found dead. At this rate bankers will be beating out dentists for “suicides”.

Cyber Warfare the real new Cold War.
yeah it does exist and has happened lots of times already. Better to know that it’s going on as your computer or cell phone could become an unwitting participant or casualty!
Sadly the main weapon is Denial of Service attacks or simply known as DoS attacks. Simplifying it it is where one group has a slave network of computers attack another computer (or network, service, etc) to “shut it down”. And your computer could be on of these slaves. Worse yet it might not be some 15 year old computer kid with ego issues but could be your own government! So is your computer an unwitting slave in these wars? Here are some indications that your computer might be a botnet slave.

 9-11
Bin Laden son-in-law trial goes ahead almost unreported
almost missed this kangaroo court completely and maybe that was the intent. The U.S. Government doesn’t need a big media focus on the whole 9-11 event again especially if it wont jive with what they’ve told the rest of the world.
BBC explains why it reported WTC7 collapsed an hour before it did.
